Funeral pre-payment
Funeral prepayment provides peace of mind – not only for you, but also for your family as it relieves them of financial burden in the future.
Your wishes are carefully documented when you make your funeral pre payment, and you’ll receive a copy for your records. You can specify the music, readings, venue, and any other wishes.
Funeral prepayments are held securely by The Funeral Trust, which is administered by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand.
The amount you prepay will be applied to the entire funeral cost*.
It’s important to be aware that funeral price estimates are not fixed and are subject to inflation.
Funeral prepayment is not the same as an insurance policy. This has the benefit of not requiring any health checks: anyone of any age or health status can arrange funeral pre payment.
You can still change your funeral arrangements
Pre paying for a funeral doesn’t commit you or your family to using Forrest Funeral Services. The funds are held in trust for your family to use with a funeral director of their choice.
What’s more, you’re able to change any of your funeral wishes at a later date if you wish. And if the funeral is to be in another town, we can transfer your instructions.
Pre paying for a funeral protects your pension
Prepaid funerals up to $10,000 are excluded from asset testing when assessing your eligibility for subsidies for long-term residential care.
