How to pre-plan your funeral
More and more people ask us for advice on how to pre plan your own funeral.
Preplanning ensures your farewell aligns with your beliefs and preferences – and it also relieves loved ones from the burden of making difficult decisions when they are grieving.
1.
Early in the process, we’ll need to determine who has the authority to make decisions regarding the funeral arrangements.
If there is a Will, the Executor typically holds the responsibility to make funeral arrangements. In the absence of a Will, legal authority usually falls to the next of kin, commonly the surviving spouse or partner, or alternatively, the children of the departed.
2.
Recording your funeral choices in advance provides peace of mind and ensures your final wishes are respected.
You and your family are under no obligation to use Forrest Funeral Services by recording your wishes with us, this is a free and obligation-free service designed to help you.
3.
Funeral prepayment provides peace of mind – not only for you, but also for your family, as it relieves them of financial burden in the future.
Pre paying for a funeral doesn’t commit you or your family to using Forrest Funeral Services. The funds are held in trust for your family to use with a funeral director of their choice.
A gift for your family
Funerals tell the story of one's life.
Let your story be remembered by preserving your special moments and memories in a small keepsake book. Then, share the experience with loved ones so they can discover stories about you that they may have never known.
