Bereavement Support

Grief is a natural response to loss in our lives. People experience grief differently and there is no right and wrong way to grieve.

When someone dies, family and friends can find it difficult to cope with the tremendous grief they experience
and can be unprepared for important decisions and arrangements that need to be made.

After the funeral the return to everyday life can be particularly difficult and your grief can leave you feeling disorientated, exhausted and lacking confidence. It is important to honour these feelings as they are related to
your loss and are a normal part of the grieving process.

Grief takes time. At Forrests we recognise this and offer you, or immediate family members, a complimentary
support service with our bereavement counsellor, Fay Renata.

Fay is a qualified counsellor and has worked for many years with people who have recently experienced the
loss of a loved one. She will make contact with you offering up to two sessions of one to one support, and to
help you understand the many facets of grief. You are not alone, and connecting with this kind of support can
help you move through the process.

We also offer a free book, ‘Now What?’ This is a guide for people living with the death of someone close. It is
written by Lois Tonkin, a highly regarded grief counsellor and writer.

To contact Fay please phone Forrest Funeral Services on 09 426 7950 or 09 479 5956.
