PITCHER, Bruce Raymond. Beloved and treasured partner of Janet Milne – my ‘merman’. Last Friday, Bruce died very suddenly after his morning swim in the harbour at Opoutere – one of the joys of his life. Despite the valiant efforts to save him by Dave, Rusty and the first responders, Bruce was not able to stay any longer in this world. I will miss him enormously, as will so many who love him and have appreciated his kind and generous nature. His Tui, Bellbird and Fantail friends will miss his gentle presence, both at Opoutere and South Head. A loved and respected stepfather to Jake and Rebecca, and loved by grandchildren – Sam, Hunter, Isabelle, Evelyn and Seth. When I rise up Let me rise up joyful like a bird.
